Early portraits feature a clear external description of the depicted person, contrasts of light and shadow. They are characterized by bright colors, and landscapes are fragmented.
The most significant portraits and landscapes were created by Vl. Eidukevičius in the 1930s. In some portraits – “Girl with Daisies” (1934), “Father with Daughter” (1938) – the author’s subtle lyrical approach to the depicted person, rich color, is evident, in others – the portrait of Konstantinas Glinskis (1934), the portrait of Petras Rimša (1939) – psychological, expressive gradations of light and shadow, monochrome.
The portraits of women and children are characterized by lyricism: “Woman in a Blue Dress”, “Woman in a Red Flowered Dress”.
The landscapes of this period (“Kaunas in winter from Aleksotas”, “Homestead”, Kaunas view from Žaliakalnis”) are usually panoramic, characterized by a high horizon line, the illusion of space, and clear plans. Vl. Eidukevičius’s work uniquely combines lyricism and epicism, details and the whole, and an expressive stroke.
