Gečas – one of the most prominent artists of the 1960s-1970s, who created plastically suggestive works during that period. After an internship in Italy (1963-1964), his work is marked by the influence of Italian neorealism, characterized by a plastically expressive (sometimes ironic) motif of everyday life, reportage, psychological characteristics of the portrait, and the expression of internal conflicts. The compositional structure of the painting is based on the principle of a photographic frame and cinematographic montage. Landscapes, still lifes, and animalistic genre paintings predominate in his later work.
