
Kruopis Saulius
b. 1960 February 11 in Šiauliai
Lithuanian painter, photographer, organizer of painting plein airs
1971 – 1975 S. Kruopis studied at Šiauliai Children’s Art School (diploma work – oil painting on canvas). 1975 – 1980 studied artistic design and artistic photography at Kaunas S. Žukas Applied Arts Technical School (now Justinas Vienožinskis Faculty of Arts) (diploma work artistic photography exhibition at Vilnius Exhibition Hall, led by M. Dapkus.). 1985 – 1987 studied and did internship at the painting department of the Gudynas Restoration Center, Šaltenis Studio, and the art studio of the Vilnius Trade Unions Hall. 1987 – 1993 studied at the then State Institute of Arts, Faculty of Painting (diploma thesis: painting composition on the theme of Mother. Triptych. Supervisors L. Katinas and A. Šaltenis). 1988 – 1991. member of the artists’ group “EA” (later this group was called “Good Evils”, and was led by Prof. K. Zapkus (USA)). Received creative scholarships in Germany, India, Finland.
S. Kruopis since 1995. – member of the Lithuanian Artists’ Union, since 1996 – member of the Lithuanian-Indian Society, since 1999 – chairman of the Nida Artists’ Association “Tiltas”, since 1995 – initiator and leader of the international Nida painting plein-airs (13 international expressionist painting plein-airs have been organized).

1990: won the competition for the first Lithuanian postage stamps
2000: Neringa City Prize
2003: “Ogmias Pulso” Prize
2005: LDS diploma “For creative contribution”
