Marcinkevičius Vilmantas
VILMANTAS MARCINKEVIČIUS was born in 1969 in Kaunas. In 1995 Marcinkevičius graduated from the Vilnius Academy of Arts.
Vilmantas Marcinkevičius is one of the most famous and memorable Lithuanian neo-expressionists.
Paintings
The artist’s works are distinguished by bright and unexpected colors, plastic lines, naive and simplified images. Although the author creates spontaneously, each painting has a main theme.
Marcinkevičius uses the privilege of an artist to ask the viewer uncomfortable questions about the history of the nation, the state and the individual, the price of political, economic and personal achievements and losses. He invites the viewer to interpret the works through his own prism and taking into account his own experience.
Exhibition activities
The author has held 30 personal exhibitions in Lithuania, Denmark, France, Sweden and the Faroe Islands. The artist has participated in the Copenhagen, Cologne and Ghent art fairs.

Project activities
Marcinkevičius is actively involved in various art projects in Lithuania and abroad. He believes that works of art should go beyond the boundaries of galleries and exhibition halls, blend into the urban environment, bringing art closer to people.
Marcinkevičius was one of the co-authors of the project Bitė “Art Space”. During the project, Lithuanian and foreign artists painted large-format paintings in public spaces: streets, parks, and squares.
