Leonoras Vytautas Strioga (b. 1930) is a well-known Lithuanian sculptor who has created more than 1,600 valuable and original works of art that convey Lithuanian identity. Over the course of 55 years of creative work, works made using a unique technique have been scattered across various collections, museums, galleries and other places, some of the works are kept in the author’s workshop. However, there is no general catalogue of images in which one could find all the works created and recorded from 1958 to the present day.
Kaunas County Public Library is preparing an electronic publication “Kauno menininkai”, which provides factual and bibliographical information about famous Kaunas artists, composers, directors, and performers. One bibliography of this non-commercial project is dedicated to the National Prize laureate L.V. Strioga. The electronic publication contains the sculptor’s biography, exhibitions, publications, articles about the artist, a list of reproductions of works in publications, and a small photo gallery of the sculptor’s works, on the basis of which a detailed catalog will be prepared, the artist’s work (drawings, sculptures) will be described and documented, a detailed chronological list of works from 1958–2014 will be compiled, illustrated with old photographs, reproductions from various publications, and photographs of sculptures in the author’s workshop, museums, and private collections.
