Adolfas Vaičaitis – painter, graphic artist. Born on June 16, 1915 in Plikiškiai (Pasvalys district). In 1933-1939 he studied at the Kaunas Art School, in the graphic studio. In 1941-1944 he worked as an art editor at the State Book Publishing House. As the second Soviet occupation approached, he emigrated to the West, living in Germany. In 1949 he moved to Australia. He began participating in art exhibitions since 1940. His works were acquired by the Vilnius and Šiauliai museums. He has won poster competitions more than once. He distinguished himself as an illustrator of books and periodicals. He has created many paintings, watercolors, and unconventional sketches. He has participated in exhibitions in Germany, Australia, and New Zealand. He gave lectures on art issues to the Lithuanian community, and has been the chairman of the Australian board of the Lithuanian Culture Foundation.
