Born in 1942 in Krekenava

In 1957-1960 she studied at Kaunas Art School

In 1961-1966 she studied monumental art at the State Institute of Art of the LSSR.

After graduating from the aforementioned institute in 1966, the artist actively joined the creative life

In 1970 she became a member of the Lithuanian Artists’ Union.

In 1980-1989 the artist held the position of head of the Department of Painting at the Institute of Art.

Gražina Vitartaitė’s work is well known not only to art experts, but also to ordinary viewers, as the painter constantly organizes exhibitions and participates in plein airs. One of the most important features of this artist is a deep sense of responsibility, not wanting to obey the shallow and superficial fashion that commerce, which is trying to dictate to the whims of the ignorant, tries to impose. From this point of view, G. Vitartaitė is faithful to a tradition that upholds and protects serious aesthetic values, which is based on the poetic relationship of the subject with nature, the affirmation of beauty, harmony, and moderation.
