Žukas Vaidotas

Artist (painter, sculptor, ceramist), journalist. Born in 1956 in Kaunas. In 1974-1979 he studied painting at the Lithuanian State Institute of Arts. He has been participating in art exhibitions since 1979. Since 1988 he has been a member of the Lithuanian Artists’ Union. V. Žukas creates art in various genres: easel painting, frescoes, graphics, ceramic and relief ceramics, jewelry. His latest ceramic works are covered with multi-layer glazes, fired several times in kilns at 1000-1300 degrees. The works have a clear religious theme: plaques with reliefs of a flaming heart, Madonna with a child, and rocaille ornaments are associated with archaeological finds and mysterious signs from the past. The painting is characterized by a rich, expressive color scheme, filling the paintings with expressive textural marks.
